Cranes
The Crane, Heron or Stork features very strongly in Celtic art, reflecting its importance in legend and folklore. Throughout the Celtic lands it is associated with creation and the source of life. It is considered an elusive bird, said to appear and disappear at will and to be guardian of all the secrets of life. Some of the legends say that it keeps these secrets in a magic bag and that it stands on one leg in rivers because it has lost the bag in the water.
