Details
From an incised 7th century stone found at St Caron's Church in Tregaron, where Rhiannon's jewellery is made. Unfortunately this stone was lost during 19th century renovations, but had been previously recorded and illustrated.
Carved stone crosses are an important part of our Celtic heritage. The earliest date from as far back as the 6th Century and consist of crudely incised cross shapes on standing stones. Later high crosses, dating from the 8th to the 11th Century, are often carved on all faces with very finely decorated panels of knotwork, spiral patterns, animal figures and Biblical scenes.
