This knotwork design is one of a series inspired by traditional Welsh folk-tunes and the dances which accompanied them – intricate patterns woven by a dozen or more dancers in repeating, unending cycles. This design is named after the song ‘Santiana’, which tells of a sailor’s longing for Wales as he sails around Cape Horn:
O Santiana, blow your horn
Send fair winds to round the horn
My home is in distant Wales.
My Father's house is white and fine
And the garden has red roses...
